Conversations Over Chai: Extrovert Vs. Introvert

introvert vs. extrovert.jpg

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you are doing awesome! Here I present to you another session of Conversations Over Chai!

I am an extrovert and have noticed this stigma in society associated with anyone who is an introvert. Being an extrovert is so heavily advertised in this world today that it presents so many complexities for anyone that is an introvert.

Firstly, the only definitions pertaining to these two terms are not of enthusiastic and shy (which is what is listed in the dictionary). There is so much more to this concept when one scratches through the first layer.

Expertrain explains the traits of an introvert best:

You’re sociable, but often find yourself wishing you were at home with a good book
You listen more than you talk
You can express yourself better in writing
Fame and wealth don’t hold much importance to you
You dislike conflict
You surround yourself with friends and family rather than a large social group
Social interaction can leave you feeling drained and in need of alone time to recharge
You would rather go running workout at the gym than go to a party
Now, does this only define an introvert as a shy person?

The social limelight, as well as the world we live in today really, does promote the idea of being an extrovert. Do you think this means an introvert has to change who they are in order to really make friends, and “fit in” with the rest of society?

Whether you are an extrovert or introvert you have the full right to be who you are!

Sending a lot of positive vibes your way,

Manisha Sareen
