Laughter, just let it be!


Good Morning Everyone!

How are you doing today??

I have an extremely loud laugh and I am proud to say that when I laugh it goes directly to being a loud one. Over the years I have come to realize that my laugh is my own and that I will not control it’s volume just to come to terms with the society we live in, haha rebellious right? I know!

Maybe in a future post I can record my laugh and post it for all of you, but this post is not about my laugh.

I value laughing and smiling tremendously in my life because I have noticed that when I am able to help people laugh and smile Β they forget all about their stressors. Does it get any better than that?

In a recent study featured on LiveScience, Scott and her colleague played different sounds for a group of volunteers and measured their responsiveness via an fMRI scanner. The sounds ranged from positive sounds such as laughter and anything associated with being happy. On the opposite spectrum negative sounds such that of screaming were also played.

These songs directly impact the premotor corticol part of the brain which is connected to the way muscles move in the face and the results showed that the volunteers reacted in higher volumes to the positive sounds.

So did you laugh today? Also PLEASE don’t feel like you need to modify your laughter to fit the standards of society! Laugh your heart out!
