“Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want somethin’, go get it. Period.”

The significance of the dialogue delivered by Will Smith needs to be repeatedly emphasized in the world we live in today.  This is such an important concept for many reasons. Here are few:

1. There are so many negative people in the world that we live in today so it is important to find that passion/goal that will drive you no matter what. Your foundation has to be SO solid that even when people close to you tell you that something can’t be done-you are ultimately immune to it. Immunity to negativity is key.
2. When people around you emphasize the limitations that you will probably come across during your path to success- they are ultimately revealing the limitations they have placed upon themselves. Why do they do that? Human nature. Since they weren’t able to surpass those limitations they want to make sure you don’t surpass them either. Don’t be defined by their limitations and PLEASE realize that you already know that you will surpass all those limitations which they speak of. Just keep working hard and get feedback from people who are well established in the field you are trying to thrive in. That is the best place to get advice, because sometimes people who are “close” to you don’t necessarily have the best feedback.
